Hi! My name is Mariona, nice to meet you.
I am an Engineer and Innovator from Barcelona (ESP), based in London (UK), currently pursuing a double master’s degree in Innovation Design Engineering at the Royal College of Art and Imperial College London.
I studied Biomedical Engineering at Universitat de Barcelona (2014-2018), and went on to work as a researcher in the Neuroimaging laboratory of Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, where I followed up on my dissertation about ML methods in Alzheimer’s diagnosis and co-authored a paper.
In my practice as a designer, I draw inspiration from the human, both in terms of behavior and biology: I am particularly interested in the brain and the workings of the body as a machine.
I am driven by interdisciplinariety and believe true innovation emerges from the most unexpected combinations. I believe in design that considers our nature and adapts to ourselves, as well as design that mirrors the optimization of processes and designs found in nature.
My passions include music, cinema, fashion and crafts. I have learnt guitar, DJing, sewing, crochet and video editing in my spare time, and have developed multiple personal projects in relation.
